The 30-year-old golfer demonstrated remarkable composure to claim the prestigious Abu Dhabi title on the final day, beating Tommy Fleetwood in a tense playoff following a rollercoaster last day of play.

Final Round Excitement
Rai entered the last day with a one-shot lead over countryman Fleetwood and Danish golfer Nicolai Højgaard. He ended up with a total score of 263 after a topsy-turvy, 67 final round that included seven birdie putts and two bogeys.
The challenger edged one shot clear with the 16th and 17th to play after a birdie on the sixteenth, but Rai tied it up again on the seventeenth and then missed a ten-foot birdie attempt to claim victory on the last hole.
Playoff Decider
This led to a play-off at the Yas Links course where Rai prevailed to claim the title and $1.5m (£1.13m) in prize money.
{“Tommy is a world-class golfer and an even better individual. To compete alongside him the last two days was really special,” stated Rai, the present world No 30. “You’re so focused on playing the round and staying in the zone, it’s difficult to put into words at the moment how it feels. It is amazing to be holding the trophy.”
