Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Lift French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now won the prestigious trophy on 14 separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a dramatic equaliser followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past Marseille in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a straightforward triumph in the showdown featuring the French league winners and the Coupe de France holders after Ousmane Dembele opened the net early on.

Yet, the southern French side struck two times late to seize a shock advantage. Initially, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before the defender inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking twist of fortune, Goncalo Ramos snatched a vital equaliser in the dying seconds to send the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all converted with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a convincing penalty win.

Now 14-time champions Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the last thirteen seasons.
